phosphotyrosine

phosphotyrosine
Strictly speaking, tyrosine phosphate, but normally refers to the phosphate ester of a protein tyrosine residue. Present in very small amounts in tissues, but believed to be important in systems that regulate growth control, and is therefore of interest in studies of malignancy. The src gene product (pp60src ) was one of the first kinases shown to phosphorylate at a tyrosine residue.
